Real Thoughts, Real Faith, Real Life, Real Fun!

Nine year old logic…

Let me set the scene for you…sitting at the dinner table with the fam eating a big yummy pot of soup. Good conversation, everything is warm and cozy. Out of the blue, my son comes up with two “observations”

1.” I know why parents try to make their kids drink milk. They say it’s because milk is good for us. BUT, I know that it’s really because if we didn’t drink milk all the cows would blow up.”

2. “Oh, and also, nose picking…..parents make kids think they shouldn’t do it because it’s rude. But really…. They are afraid we will deflate our brains.”

I love nine….tonight was almost as good as the day a few weeks ago when he came out of the bathroom and said “Daddy….the toilet is clogged. And it’s not because I used to much toilet paper because I didn’t. My poop was just really huge….seriously, I witnessed it!”

Nine year old boys are a true treasure!

I love fall…..

Does anybody but me see the humor in this? Don’t you think if the “current temp” is higher than the forecasted high, maybe it’s time to adjust your forecast just a tad?

Yesterday….it was freezing cold.

Today….I am tempted to break out my fan.

Gotta love fall!

Unfair…

I always look forward to the weekend. I know that almost everyone does. The weekend is my reward for making it through a long and busy week. Work drains me….being home fills me up. Weekends are the only time when I get to spend long un-inturrupted time with my family – something that is dear and precious to me.

So imagine my frustration when I found out that my husband was going to a work related “function”, conference if you will,  that would be held out of town all weekend long. I don’t mind him having to do something work related, but does it have to take up the entire weekend? This means no family fun night, no sleeping in late together, no snuggling on the couch….none of the things I enjoy most about the weekend.

Sometimes…..life is unfair! And I suppose, in the big scheme of things, that I have it pretty good – great in fact! But still, silly though it may be, I want my husband to stay home this weekend…because after almost 11 years of marriage and, 12 years of being together and 16 years of friendship….he’s still my favorite person in the entire world.

The definition of cute….

Okay….what’s cuter than a puppy?

Two Puppies!

Aren’t they precious? My parents just adopted them last weekend. They are a brother and sister…the larger one is Brady, and the smaller one is Pumpkin.

I could dunk them in a cup of coffee they are so cute!

It’s Monday morning…

I think I dislike Monday mornings almost more than anything else. Certainly they are my least favorite of all the other mornings! Nobody likes getting back to a work/school routine after a nice weekend off and I’m no exception…..

So in an effort to cheer myself and the rest of the interweb up on this dreary, chilly, grey and sleepy Monday morning……

A man and a woman, who have never met before, but are both married to
other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a
transcontinental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were
both very tired and fell asleep quickly…he in the
upper bunk and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned over and gently woke the woman saying,
“Ma’am, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into
the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m awfully cold.”

“I have a better idea,” she replied. “Just for tonight, let’s pretend
that we’re married.”

“Wow! That’s a great idea!” he exclaimed.

“Good,” she replied. “Get
your own  blanket!”

After a moment of silence, he farted.

Chris Tomlin….and a give-away!

So the kind folks at EMI contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing Chris Tomlin’s new album “Hello Love”. My answer? Heck Yeah… I would LOVE to! Anybody who knows me knows that worship is a big thing for me. In fact, you don’t have to know me very well to guess how I feel about worship…hence the blog name!  Chris Tomlin, in particular, has been one of my favorite artists for quite a few years now. I love the passion and the freshness that he brings to each new project, and I love the heart behind the music that always seems to shine through.

This album…..let me say it loud and clear….does not disappoint! I got home from a business trip on Friday and it was waiting in my mail. The fam and I popped it in on our way to eat dinner and almost from the get-go we were blown away. I had heard a few of the songs already, but they were fresh and of outstanding quality.  “”Sing Sing Sing” is a fantastic song that is going to be around for many years. “Jesus Messiah” is another fantastic anthem. But my favorite? Far and away…..”I Will Rise”. From the first note I knew I would love this song. I have listened to it over and over this weekend and I love it more each time. It’s a bit haunting, it stirs something inside me and those strings…..Wow. There is nothing I didn’t love about this song and truthfully….nothing I didn’t love about this album. It’s fantastic plain and simple. You can learn more here at Chris Tomlin’s website. Check it out.

And this brings me to the really exciting part of this post! The wonderful folks at EMI are letting me do a “Worshipfan Hello Love” give-away of this fantastic new album. So….if you are as interested in hearing this album as I was, now is your chance! Leave a comment on this post and on Friday Sept. 20th I will use yea old random number generator to pick a winner.  Please enter only once and make sure that I have a way to contact you in case you are the winner. Good luck…..and happy listening!

Home…

I’m home guys….and very glad to be. It was a long trip and a long week. All in all, it was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated in my mind. I thought being alone in a strange city was going to be terrible, and it really wasn’t. In some ways….I even enjoyed it a little. Wouldn’t want to do it again anytime soon, but there were some enjoyable moments.

I did like Atlanta, it’s a great city. I walked to Centennial park and did a bit of exploring. Last night I was trying to walk to an underground mall I had heard about called….appropriately enough, ” Underground Atlanta” and I stopped a “Downtown Ambassador” to ask him where it was. Seriously…they have these uniformed “Ambassadors” sprinkled all around to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. If you look confused or lost at all they will come right up to you and ask if they can help! Anyway, I asked this guy where it was since I had seen signs for it. His response? “Uh….I wouldn’t go there if I were you. It’s pretty rough” Okay….so I asked him if he had any suggestions of where I could buy a little souvenir for my kids…his response? “Well….if you went right now while it’s still light and got in and out really quickly you could probably go to The Underground…but don’t stick around.” Seriously…..why would I go there after THAT glowing endorsement? Let’s just say I was not feeling the underground love,  so I headed back towards my hotel and stopped at a little shop to pick up something for the kids, which thrilled them.

So that’s all…I’m home….Everything is back to normal….and I’m looking forward to some down-time with my family.

OH….and if you made it this far? Check back in the next few days because I’m doing a giveaway and it’s going to be a GOOD ONE!!!!

Peace out!
