What did you say?

Isn’t it funny how what you hear isn’t always what was said? I think there must be some deep life application in there somewhere….

So here’s how it went down last night. At bedtime the hubby and I were laying in bed talking for a few minuets. He said something to the effect of “I’m so glad you know me – you really know everything about me better than anyone else in my life.”  That’s nice right?

Here  is the second part of that sentence….at least how I HEARD it. “You are good in the bed and you’re ugly” I’m sorry……What did you say?

Here is what he actually said; “The good, the bad and the ugly” NOW it makes much more sense! Guess I didn’t hear  right at all. We laughed for a long time about that one!

Moral of the story……Did I really hear what I think I heard?

What’s wrong with this picture?

Hey guys….I’m a fun girl….really!  I like to be cutting edge, but this? I just don’t get it!  What is with the skull mania that seems to be sweeping the nation?  You can’t go into any store without seeing skull shirts, jewelry, shoes….the list goes on and one. Seriously…..why are skulls the “must have” accessory everywhere you look? Why would we want to see a sweet adorable baby adorned with a skull?  Does this seem weird to anybody else???

“Per wikipedia: “Traditionally, the crossbones behind the skull indicates poison, while the crossbones under the skull (the “Jolly Roger”) indicates pirates or piracy.” I’m not anti-skull, but am wary of poison and pirates.

That baby does not look poisonous. But I could be wrong.”

Second favorite?

“Yes there are human skulls on everything. My wife and I had been in K-Mart this weekend and seen boys pajamas that had a big snowflake with a skull at the center of the flake. Skull snowflake…seems kinda funny. Light, fluffy and deadly.”

I love fall…..

Does anybody but me see the humor in this? Don’t you think if the “current temp” is higher than the forecasted high, maybe it’s time to adjust your forecast just a tad?

Yesterday….it was freezing cold.

Today….I am tempted to break out my fan.

It’s Monday morning…

I think I dislike Monday mornings almost more than anything else. Certainly they are my least favorite of all the other mornings! Nobody likes getting back to a work/school routine after a nice weekend off and I’m no exception…..

So in an effort to cheer myself and the rest of the interweb up on this dreary, chilly, grey and sleepy Monday morning……

A man and a woman, who have never met before, but are both married to
other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a
transcontinental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were
both very tired and fell asleep quickly…he in the
upper bunk and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned over and gently woke the woman saying,
“Ma’am, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into
the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m awfully cold.”

“I have a better idea,” she replied. “Just for tonight, let’s pretend
that we’re married.”

“Wow! That’s a great idea!” he exclaimed.

“Good,” she replied. “Get
your own  blanket!”

After a moment of silence, he farted.

Spiritual Education….

I know how important it is to both teach and model my faith for my children. Spiritual formation is vital for them and who they will become. Knowing that, you can imagine my great delight when I overheard the following conversation between the hubby and my 5 year old daughter yesterday while getting ready to go to church.

Hubby: “So Abbie, what do you think you will learn about in your class today?”

Daughter: “I don’t know Daddy…..maybe we will learn about princesses!”

Hubby: ” Do you think maybe you will learn about Jesus? Maybe hear a story about Jesus?”

Daughter: ” Daddy…..we’ve had stories like that before….and I didn’t really like them.”

Clearly, my work here is done!

We FINALLY got an internet cafe in Galilee.  The ESSENES have DSL, and we’re just getting dial-up.  That should tell you something!

Anyway, I was hanging out with some religious leaders.  They got on my case for not keeping their Favorite Rules (apparently, you HAVE to wash up before dinner, in accordance with scripture.)

My dog…..still has issues!

Do you remember this post?  I posted a few weeks ago about how my dog has some significant issues with my husband and I kissing and hugging…and anything more than that.  The other night I decided to do a little experiment and see how he would do. I waited until he was totally knocked out on his bed (which is in our bedroom). We had been laying in bed watching tv and talking…not quiet and not trying to be quiet, but he happily slept through it all. After awhile I turned off one of the lights and said in a quiet voice….”I’m going to give Daddy kisses now!” and scooted over to Brian’s side of the bed. I started making kissing noises and waited to see what he would do. At first, he did nothing, so I kept it up for a moment and sure enough he stood up, shook himself off and walked out of the room…….and you guys? I swear he shot me a dirty look as he walked out! For some odd reason, I think it really irritates him! It’s almost too funny not to tease him about!

So there you go….my random thought for the night. My dog has issues….still. I’m just sayin!

Irony…..

Yesterday I was doing some grocery shopping at Target. I purchased what I needed and left the store to load the bags into my car and noticed that there was a car parked next to me that had not been there when I went into the store. It was a sporty little BMW convertible and was obviously quite an expensive car. As I walked around the car to put my cart into the little cart corral I happened to notice the license plate on this sporty but expensive little number….and it made me laugh at the incredible irony. I’m actually really surprised that the owners didn’t think of it when purchasing the vanity plate for their car. The license plate?…….JZUSSENF

Translation…..Jesus is enough.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this?

Easter Aftermath….

Um…..I think we have a problem here.

I need prayer guys…….lots and lots of prayer! This is more temptation than any mom should have to face. I view it as an obstacle to overcome. My kids, they view it a bit differently!
